| Resumodc.description.abstract | Aloe plants belong to the genus Aloe and are widely used for medicinal purposes due to the mucilage-rich leaves. The taxonomy of this genus has undergone several changes, leading to confusion regarding its classification and the correct botanical identification of medicinal species. In Brazil, some Aloe species are cultivated and used for medicinal purposes, while others are grown as ornamental plants. This publication discusses the botanical classification of Aloe, its relationship with related plant groups, and selected agronomic and therapeutic aspects of some species. It aims to contribute to the correct identification and understanding of these plants. | |
