Resumo
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is an international organization dedicated to combating hunger, improving nutrition, promoting food security, and supporting sustainable agricultural development. Its work contributes to the improvement of food systems, the prevention of malnutrition, and the promotion of safe and nutritious diets for populations worldwide. Through technical cooperation, research, policy development, and capacity-building initiatives, the FAO supports countries in addressing challenges related to food production, food availability, accessibility, and utilization. Its activities are particularly relevant to public health and collective health, as adequate nutrition and food safety are essential determinants of human well-being. The organization's initiatives also promote sustainable agriculture and resilient food systems, contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to zero hunger, good health, and sustainable development.
