Resumodc.description.abstractWorld fisheries and aquaculture play a significant role in global food security, nutrition, employment, and economic development. Fisheries provide essential aquatic food resources, while aquaculture contributes to increasing fish production to meet the growing demand for seafood worldwide. However, these sectors face several challenges, including overfishing, climate change, habitat degradation, and the loss of aquatic biodiversity. Sustainable management practices, responsible fishing methods, technological innovation, and the development of environmentally friendly aquaculture systems are essential to ensuring the long-term availability of aquatic resources. Furthermore, strengthening fisheries governance and promoting sustainable production can improve the livelihoods of fishing communities and support global food systems. Therefore, the integration of sustainable fisheries and aquaculture practices is crucial for conserving aquatic ecosystems and achieving global food security and sustainable development.
